The 2005 Classic

The first GoFridayNight.com Champions Classic, featuring three football games on opening weekend of the 2005 Texas High School Football season, brought more than 20,000 spectators to Shotwell Stadium in Abilene, Texas.

The event featured past champions and future champions. State Class 5A champion Southlake Carroll overcame always powerful Midland Lee, 48-25, as reigning District 3-5A champion Abilene High defeated Lubbock Monterey, 37-14. In the "Trio Week" opener, Ballinger and Clyde put on quite a show before the Bearcats prevailed, 21-7 (see game stories and stat links below).

The GoFridayNight.com Champions Classic was presented by the Abilene Sports Alliance, a committee of the Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau, an affiliate of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce.

The Alliance has announced teams for the 2006 Classic.
